we did this in our chemistry class. it took me like 12 lemons to get it to work though

@jstreutker ah, im beginning to see light in the tunnel. I think the water analogy that everybody uses confuses me more than clear things up. I thought that increasing the volt would automaticly increase the ampere, more pressure gives more speed for the electrons – more lemons more ampere too, but i guess thats not exactly right. Yes im in a 220 land, namely sweden. Thanks to you and all the helpful ppl on this thread.

You can power up a calculator with ordinary tap water using the same principle
I even tried powering up a calculator using people 
each of them was holding a copper and a zinc wire and 3 people connected “in series” were enough to power the calculator up
